SEPT. 27, 2022: Please join Berkeley City College for a very special screening and platica [conversation] with the director of "War of the Flea: The Fight for Xicano Studies" on Tuesday, September 27, starting at 12:30 PM in the BCC Auditorium. The event is presented as part of BCC's Latinx Heritage Month celebration.
A real life David vs. Goliath story, War of the Flea (preview) documents an eight-year struggle during the 1990s that led to the creation of a Xicano Studies program at Michigan State University. Through relentless organizing, direct action, and persistence, students and community members fought and ultimately succeeded in establishing one of the first Xicano/Latino Studies programs at a Big 10 university.
We look forward to meeting you there!
