Here in the East Bay, we live in an earthquake zone, so it’s important that we all know what to do to keep as safe as possible during a quake. The Great California Shakeout on October 17, 2024, at 10:17am, is an opportunity to test our emergency preparedness in case of an earthquake. On that day and time, the Peralta Community College District will test our emergency communication system, Rave, by sending you all a text and email message advising you of the Great Shakeout emergency earthquake test.

As I shared back in April, we’ve initiated a broader exploration into strategies and options that will support our long-term strategic vision for public safety. Given prominent concerns around safety and security in my districtwide listening sessions and the foundational leadership of the Holistic Safety and Wellness Committee, we are poised to articulate a transformative and holistic plan for safety and security that centers our District’s mission and vision, and the Board’s June 2021 Resolution Renewing Support for the Holistic Safety and Wellness of District Students.
