College of Alameda's 2024 Commencement Ceremony

The College of Alameda (COA) held its 2024 commencement ceremony on Friday, May 2, 2024. More than 200 students, faculty, administrators, district leaders, Board of Trustees members, Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Chancellor Tammeil Gilkerson, and COA Acting President Pamela Luster participated in the procession.

Teacher Preparation Program Apprentices Graduate

On Thursday, June 6, Berkeley City College hosted its graduation ceremony for apprentices in the Teacher Preparation Program. 43 apprentices representing cohorts from the YMCA of the East Bay Early Educator Apprentices, Girls Inc. Of Alameda County Expanded Learning Apprentices, and the Oakland Unified School District Oaktown Leaders Preapprentices walked the stage and received their certificates of proficiency.

Saturday, May 18^th was a beautiful day at the Evergreen Missionary Church in Oakland for the 16^th AnnualAfrican and African American Graduation, this year with the theme “Stepping Into Our Future, Inspired By Our Past.”

On Thursday, May 16^th, Merritt College held its district-wide Raíces Graduation for Latinx students. "There were so many memories made that evening," said Chancellor Tammeil Gilkerson.

On Thursday, May 16^th the Office of International Education Graduation ceremony was held at Berkeley City College in the early afternoon.

On Wednesday, May 15^th, our special graduation cohort ceremonies continued at Berkeley City College for our second-ever District-wide Lavender Graduation ceremony, this year hosted by the Berkeley City College LGBTQIA+ Club.

Monday, May 20^th was a beautiful day to be out on the golf course at Sequoyah Country Club in the Oakland Hills raising money for students by way of the Peralta Colleges Foundation. The “William ‘Bill’ Riley Swing for Student Success” Golf Tournament was a huge success with the most participants it's had in years.

On Thursday, May 23, Chancellor Tammeil Gilkerson met with community leaders from the Oakland Rotary No. 3 and the Lake Merritt Breakfast Club. Also in attendance were Trustee Bill Withrow – who also serves as Lake Merritt Breakfast Club Treasurer – and Lake Merritt Breakfast Club Co-President Lisa Hire, who invited Chancellor Gilkerson to speak.
