Karin Nguyen from Merritt College emphasizes her love of Merritt's services and students. She explains that Merritt College's food pantry and its supplies, such as clothing and basic necessities, are very helpful for students' daily usage. On April 8-9, 2025, Peralta Community College District students will vote for student government representatives and on Proposition A, a referendum to determine the EasyPass program’s future. If approved, it would renew access to unlimited AC Transit bus service—local and Transbay—for all Peralta Community College District students via their EasyPass card.

Through Partnership with Children Now, College’s MESA Program Aims to Expand by 300% in 3 Years
OAKLAND, CA – Children Now is partnering with Laney College to increase access, mentorship, and career opportunities for STEM students participating in the college’s Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement Program (MESA). Aimed at supporting historically marginalized and underrepresented students, the collaboration will work to strengthen preparation and connections for students pursuing STEM-related careers, as well as increase opportunities for transferring to four-year colleges and universities.

At the beginning of March, Peralta Community College District sent out an announcement about a survey hosted by The RP Group. The main goal of their survey dubbed “2025 Real College California Survey” is to get input from all community college students here in California. It is a research project aiming to give students a chance to voice their opinion on how their college has assisted them on their academic journey.
The JuneSteingart Gallery at Laney College buzzed with creative energy on Wednesday, March 5th, as the Peralta community gathered to celebrate the opening reception of "CLAY PAPER WOOD." This exhibition, showcasing the diverse talents of over 20 advanced students from Laney's Ceramics, Printmaking, and Wood Technology classes, proved to be a resounding success. The exhibition opened on February 18th and runs through March 28th. Go see the work when you can!
On Friday, February 28, 2025, the Peralta Community College District headquarters buzzed with festive energy as we celebrated the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Snake. The event, filled with cultural richness and community spirit, brought together faculty, classified professionals, students, and district leadership for an afternoon of celebration and learning.
A spirit of pride and collaboration filled the air on January 28th as Laney College hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the stunning Tiny House crafted by its talented Carpentry students. Under the expansive Construction Canopy, students, faculty, and community members gathered to witness the culmination of months of dedication and hard work.
