OAKLAND, Calif., April 19, 2024 – The Peralta Community College District has opened a nationwide search to find ideal candidates to fill four leadership positions that will play a pivotal role in setting the future direction of the East Bay District.
The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) held a reception on March 12, 2024, to honor 15 faculty members across all four colleges within the district: Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College; who were approved for tenure later that night by the Board of Trustees. Their tenured status takes effect with the 2024-25 academic year.
Peralta Community College District kicked off the Lunar New Year with a festive celebration that showcased the rich traditions of Asian cultures. The event, held on Friday, March 1, 2024, was a joyous gathering filled with greetings, informative presentations, and a spirit of community.
On February 28th, Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Student Trustees Natasha Masand and Naomi Vasquez hosted the first of what we hope will be ongoing gatherings of student leaders from across the district. The meeting, held at the Chancellor’s conference room, was attended by more than 16 leaders representing the Associated Students organizations across the Peralta Colleges.
Chancellor Gilkerson wanted to personally convey the direction she’s taking with district organizational structure and recorded a brief (3 minutes 44 seconds) update video for the Peralta Community.
The Peralta Community College District held its Spring 2024 "Flex Day" for Professional Development on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Laney College and featured two new chancellors, Peralta's Chancellor Dr. Tammeil Gilkerson and California Community Colleges Chancellor Dr. Sonya Christian.
As you have likely heard and seen on the news, the conflict in the Middle East has led to horrific acts of violence and violations of human rights. We are shocked by and condemn the acts of violence occurring in the region.

The Peralta Community College District held its Fall District-wide Flex Day on Thursday, August 17, 2023. The day was dedicated to professional development for faculty and staff, with a focus on equity and inclusion, as we prepare for the August 21st, 2023, start of the Fall 2023 semester.
