The Peralta Community College District Marketing team was thrilled to participate in Welcome Week activities, visiting Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College to hand out free college-branded hoodies and t-shirts to students who then modeled them. We had an outstanding turnout, including many returning students from last semester's event. Thank you so much to the 200+ students who modeled for us!
Peralta Community College District recently received three awards from CCPRO, the Community College Public Relations Organization (http://ccprocalifornia.org/). The CCPRO 2023 Annual Meeting took place in Los Angeles on April 12th - 14th and was attended by Thomas Rizza (Public Information Officer at Berkeley City College), Marcus Creel (Graphic Design Specialist at the district) and Mark Johnson (district Executive Director, Marketing, Communication & Public Relations). The conference awards ceremony took place on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
Peralta Community College District recently received two awards from CCPRO, the Community College Public Relations Organization (
http://ccprocalifornia.org/). The CCPRO 2021 Annual Meeting took place virtually on Friday afternoons during April and concluded on April 30 with their annual awards ceremony where it was announced that Peralta CCD received two awards for work produced in 2020.
Peralta TV, which celebrated its 40th Anniversary earlier this year (see Peralta Gems #9), continues to broadcast educational and Peralta community content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Peralta TV is available on Comcast (Channel 27 in Alameda and Berkeley, and Channel 28 in Oakland, Emeryville and Piedmont) and on AT&T U-Verse (Channel 99). On July 28, 2020, the Board of Trustees of the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) approved the appointment of Mark Johnson as Executive Director of Public Information, Communication & Media. He will continue to manage the Department of Marketing, Communication and Public Relations (MCPR) for the District. Mr. Johnson had been in the interim role for the past year.
On June 10, 2020, the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Department of Marketing, Communication and Public Relations (MCPR) received recognition from the Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO) as part of the 2020 CCPRO Awards Ceremony. The District earned Third Place in the highly competitive Social Media Marketing category. We received the award for "Become a Champion" - a Twitter post by Faiza Ali that included a 17 second video produced by AC Hunter that was then "boosted" by Mark Johnson to maximize the audience reach for the video here in the Bay Area.
