COA Team Celebrates Veterans Day with the USS Hornet Museum
In honor of Veterans Day on November 10, 2023, a team from the College of Alameda, in collaboration with the Alameda Chamber of Commerce, took part in the commemoration of the Silver Oak Anniversary held at the USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum—an event marking 25 years as a museum and 80 years since the ship's commissioning in 1943.
Brian Guzman Awarded Ozzie Day Scholarship

On November 29, 2023, Brian Guzman received the Ozzie Day Scholarship from the College of Alameda Automotive Technology Department.
Brian Guzman is an Oakland native who grew up watching his dad fix family cars and helping out in any way he could. When Brian graduated from high school, he enrolled in Auto Technology classes at COA because he heard from friends that COA had the best Auto Tech classes in the area.

California Residents who apply for financial aid and take a minimum of 6 credits can attend Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College for free in the Spring 2024 semester.

COA Hosts AUSD Educational Summit for Black & Multi-Ethnic Students
On Saturday, October 14, 2023, College of Alameda opened its doors to a remarkable event, “My Sister's Dynasty and My Brother's Legacy,” a groundbreaking educational summit designed to empower Black and Multi-Ethnic students. This special event, hosted in collaboration with the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) Office of Equity, brought together a diverse group of speakers, presenters, and attendees.

College of Alameda to Host CATESOL Conference and You’re Invited!
College of Alameda has been selected as the host institution for the upcoming California Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (CATESOL) State Conference 2023, themed “Breaking New Ground.” The conference is scheduled to be held from October 26 to 28, 2023, at the College's Liberal Arts Center. This marks a significant milestone as CoA becomes the first academic institution to host the CATESOL Conference.

A New Internship Pilot Program Is Launching this Semester at CoA
CoA’s Internship Pilot Program is set to kick off this Fall 2023 Semester. The initiative marks a significant milestone for the College, as it is one of only two community colleges in the state of California participating in the Internship Pilot program to support the Learning Aligned Employment Plan (LAEP). This partnership not only benefits CoA students but also contributes to the growth of the local economy.
