On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, Deputy Chancellor & Chief Operating Officer Greg Nelson hosted an Administrative Services Retreat at College of Alameda. The retreat included the departments of General Services, Information Technology, Public Safety, and Finance & Administration which are now combined in the new Division of Administrative Services.

COA Hosts Annual Committed Day and In-Person Orientation for the 2024-2025 Incoming Class
On Thursday, July 25, 2024, College of Alameda hosted CoA Committed Day and the first In-Person Orientation since the pandemic. Both events were designed to engage, inform, and prepare our new students for the 2024-25 academic year. Preparing for our incoming students was campus campus-wide collaborative effort.

Last week, I was thrilled to officially welcome Melanie Dixon to the Peralta Community College District family, as the new President of College of Alameda (COA). We held a Meet and Greet at COA on Tuesday, July 16th, where faculty, classified professionals, administrators, and students had the opportunity to eat some tasty snacks, meet President Dixon, and learn more about her as a person.

On July 1, we welcomed
Greg Nelson as our new Chief Operating Officer and
Abdul Pridgen as our new Interim Executive Director of Public Safety. Both have hit the ground running, bringing with them a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective. I appreciate the college presidents and their leadership teams facilitating our campus visits last week. Thank you to everyone who greeted us, helped with tours, and extended genuine goodwill. I’m incredibly proud of our colleges and the district service center, and it was a pleasure to share that pride with Greg and Abdul.
On May 25th, former Peralta Community College District Chancellor, Dr. Donald H. Godbold, passed away. He was 95 years old.
OAKLAND, Calif., June 12, 2024 – At their regular meeting last night, the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Melanie Dixon as the new president of the College of Alameda, effective July 15, 2024.
