On April 8-9, 2025, Peralta Community College District students will vote for student government representatives and on Proposition A, a referendum to determine the EasyPass program’s future. If approved, it would renew access to unlimited AC Transit bus service—local and Transbay—for all Peralta Community College District students via their EasyPass card.
The EasyPass, initially passed in 2016 and renewed in 2022, charges students enrolled in six or more units $47.32 per semester (year 2025) and $51.32 per semester for 2026 through 2028) for transit access. If Proposition A passes, the program will continue through Spring 2028, serving Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College. It’s one commuting option among several available to students.
EasyPass offers:
- Unlimited AC Transit rides
- Travel to anywhere AC Transit goes
- TransBay routes are included
- Available to be used anytime, not just class days.
The vote will occur online via Peralta’s student portal. A “yes” vote renews the program, stabilizing transit costs and supporting campus sustainability through public transit use. A “no” vote ends it, shifting students to regular fares or transportation alternatives.
The Transportation Referendum also includes a Peralta Colleges shuttle bus service. The Peralta Shuttle Bus Program will offer express shuttles between Peralta Colleges running Monday through Thursday from 7am to 7pm, aligning with class schedules. This service will be available year-round, including the summer term.
A majority vote (51% or more) in favor is required for Proposition A to pass.
Participation in the April vote will be essential, so don’t miss this chance to influence your campus experience.
