Congratulations are in order for College of Alameda which has been named a 2022 Champion for Excelling in Equitable Course Placement in Black English Throughput by The Campaign for College Opportunity. The Campaign for College Opportunity describes itself as "focused on a single mission: Working to ensure all Californians have an equal opportunity to attend and succeed in college in order to build a vibrant workforce, economy and democracy." College of Alameda President Nathaniel Jones II noted 'the college is thankful for the recognition of the College of Alameda’s work to foster greater levels of achievement equity.'
February is Black History Month, and the Peralta Colleges will be celebrating all month long. Merritt College President David M. Johnson, in an email to the Merritt Community, described the history of this month of remembrance:

February 1st marks the start of the year of the Tiger and we at Peralta are excited to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The Peralta community is made up of students, faculty, and staff with connections around the world.
