Congratulations are in order for College of Alameda which has been named a 2022 Champion for Excelling in Equitable Course Placement in Black English Throughput by The Campaign for College Opportunity. The Campaign for College Opportunity describes itself as "focused on a single mission: Working to ensure all Californians have an equal opportunity to attend and succeed in college in order to build a vibrant workforce, economy and democracy." The award celebrates colleges that have successfully supported at least 70% of Black students who enrolled in a transfer-level English course to successfully complete it within 1 year of their initial enrollment and have supported Black students to succeed at rates equivalent to or even exceeding those of the student body as whole.
