February 1st marks the start of the year of the Tiger and we at Peralta are excited to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The Peralta community is made up of students, faculty, and staff with connections around the world.

February is Black History Month and Peralta TV will be bringing you its annual slate of great programming highlighting not only groundbreaking black excellence in song and sport, but our own Merritt College's place in history as the birthplace of the Black Panthers.
And like always, there's programming taking us around the world: across the ancient Tea Road through Tibet and China, and then back home to the beginning of televised journalism. Tune in!
College of Alameda (CoA) is proud to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website on January 4, 2022. Along with the new website, CoA has changed its Uniform Resource Locator (URL) from http://alameda.peralta.edu to https://alameda.edu. Visitors using the old URL will be redirected to the new website for the next three months. It's recommended that students and community members update their bookmarks to the new website address.
A beautiful ceremony to celebrate the success of students took place on December 1st, 2021, at the College of Alameda Automotive Technology Facility. Students, faculty, administrators, and staff gathered to celebrate the awarding of five scholarships. Steve Gilbert was there to award the scholarships he created in memory of his son Daniel Gilbert who was an ATECH student at College of Alameda.

Classes at the Peralta Community Colleges have begun, but the classroom isn't the only place to learn about our world.
It's summertime, but despite the world opening up (and perhaps closing down a bit again), it is still nice to spend some time being transported through quality television. Journey with Peralta TV to learn about education in El Salvador, Black ASL (American Sign Language), the emerald trade, the challenges of a young transgender Latina, and the rise and fall of the Aztecs. Something for everyone.
This July Peralta TV is your source for compelling stories, from the Koi and Habemetol Pomo peoples of the Clear Lake region working to preserve their heritage from looting and urbanization, to a case study in the abuse and neglect of people with intellectual disabilities in institutional settings.
There's also some great programming, exploring music: learn the story of classical music in Austria, watch a beautiful documentary large brass bells in the remote ethnic Yao village of Huaili, China, and hear a young Johnny Cash in his own voice. Join us for programs that take you beyond the ordinary.
On June 30, 2021 at 9am, Peralta Community College District's Bond Program will host an overview and virtual matchmaking session for the Berkeley City College West - Milvia Project. Firms will then have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the project's Design-Build Team, XL Construction/Ratcliff, to discuss subcontracting opportunities.
