On February 28th, Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Student Trustees Natasha Masand and Naomi Vasquez hosted the first of what we hope will be ongoing gatherings of student leaders from across the district. The meeting, held at the Chancellor’s conference room, was attended by more than 16 leaders representing the Associated Students organizations across the Peralta Colleges.

As many of you know, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared the end of the COVID-19 emergency in the state of California effective February 28, 2023. USA President Joseph Biden declared the end of the federal government's COVID-19 Public Health Emergency on May 11, 2023.

Earlier today, the U.S. Supreme Court declared that the admissions systems used by Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill illegally violate the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment, effectively overturning Affirmative Action programs. This is an unfortunate decision.
