PCCD Undocumented Week 2024

The Peralta Community College District is proud to continue our ongoing and sustained commitment to serving the undocumented members of our East Bay community and joins with other community colleges across the state for Undocumented Student Action Week 2024.

Undocumented Student Action Week (USAW) is an initiative led by the state chancellor's office. As the higher education system that enrolls the largest population of undocumented students in the United States, the California Community Colleges are instrumental in ensuring every student, regardless of their citizenship status, can pursue their career and professional goals free from institutional barriers and discrimination. Our annual Undocumented Student Action Week was born out of this premise: to build greater awareness of and support for policies that lead to undocumented student success.

Did you know that the Berkeley City College Undocumented Community Resource Center (UCRC) was the first of its kind here in the Bay Area? Visit the UCRC online at https://www.berkeleycitycollege.edu/ucrc. Each of our colleges has events planned as part of USAW. Schedules can be found on the Peralta Colleges “Events Across the District” site at https://gems.peralta.edu/news.

We also encourage participation in the statewide webinars happening this week. Register today for the Eighth Annual California Community Colleges' Undocumented Student Action Week (USAW) on Oct. 14 - 18, 2024. Join the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the Foundation for California Community Colleges, the Community College League of California, and our statewide partners for a week of collaboration and supporting students, faculty, and those involved in advocating for undocumented students.

Why Attend USAW?

As the largest system serving undocumented students in the nation, our role in supporting their educational dreams is crucial. USAW provides a platform to:

  • Raise awareness about challenges faced by undocumented students
  • Discuss local, statewide, and federal solutions
  • Build a strong, collaborative ecosystem for student success
  • Break down silos and promote a unified campus approach
  • We encourage administrators, faculty, staff, and students who work with current and prospective undocumented students.

Event Dates

Monday, Oct. 14 - Thursday, Oct. 17

Virtual webinars 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. daily
