As we prepare to kick off another new academic year, I'm reminded of the strength of our district community in advancing social and economic transformation for students and the community by the ingenuity, agency, individual and collective commitment of our faculty, classified professionals, and administrators. It often involves more than just the day-to-day duties; it involves finding innovative, practical, and helpful ways to improve our work.
One such shining example is William (Bill) Lepowsky. For decades, as a faculty member and leader, Bill has made significant contributions to Laney College and the district community. His user-friendly "Lepowsky Calendars" are not just a convenience, but a crucial tool that provides a one-page view of each semester with holidays and critical deadline dates. They are an indispensable resource in our District and, frankly, part of Peralta's rich history.
