On Thursday, October 17th, College of Alameda held its “Project ADAM Catwalk” - the Department of Apparel Design and Merchandising’s playful take on the hit TV show, Project Runway. The program gave design students the opportunity to show off their latest fashions and literally “strut their stuff”.

Laney, OUSD Hold Well-Attended Manufacturing Day
On Thursday, October 10, Laney College welcomed 200 high school students from the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) for OUSD Manufacturing Day. The event took place in partnership with OUSD, the City of Oakland’s Economic and Workforce Development Office, and a wealth of industry leaders that included Brimstone, DOER, ERG Aerospace, and Gatorade/PepsiCo.

One Stop Shop Grand Opening
On October 2, 2024, CoA proudly hosted the grand opening for our One Stop Shop, which offers one place on campus where students can stop in and shop for:
- Grocery Basics, Fresh Produce, and occasionally even Eggs!
- Personal Care and Hygiene Items.
- Gently used Clothing, Shoes, and assorted random Knick-Knacks.

Peralta Faculty Secure Major Wins for Early Childhood Education and ESOL Articulation

Peralta faculty brought two resolutions to the 2024 Fall Plenary Session of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, Nov. 6-9 in Visalia. Both resolutions—one urging increased support for Early Childhood Education programs and another calling for UCs to accept articulation of ESOL oral communication classes—passed overwhelmingly and thereby "set direction for the [state senate] as a whole."
