BCC Hosts Community Partners Breakfast
On Wednesday, March 26, Berkeley City College hosted its annual Community Partners Breakfast. Over 100 counselors, dual enrollment partners, college advisors, and administrators from local high schools and higher education partners attended.

Berkeley City College Campus Showcase
Berkeley City College welcomed Chancellor Tammeil Gilkerson and the PCCD Board of Trustees to showcase BCC for the February 25 Board of Trustees Meeting. President Denise Richardson, along with other BCC leaders, led a tour of campus and provided updates on programs and services.

BCC Presents at the 2024 Real College Basic Needs Summit
Last month, the Basic Needs team and advocates from BCC made a strong impression at the 2024 Real College Basic Needs Summit at Lemoore College. The event brought together students, staff, and faculty from across California to share strategies and successes in addressing student basic needs, and BCC’s team was front and center.

Congratulations to the Berkeley City College Multimedia Arts students for earning second place in the global VIVE Mars “Best Horror Shot!” film competition for their spooky short “Night of the Living Dodo.”

Berkeley Mayoral Candidate Forum at Berkeley City College
Three candidates in the running to be the next Mayor of Berkeley took part in a Mayoral Candidate Forum at Berkeley City College, presented by the local League of Women Voters (LWV) of Berkeley, Albany, and Emeryville and in co-sponsorship with the American Association of University Women. Nearly 150 people attended filled the Auditorium for the event, which was also broadcasted and livestreamed by Berkeley Community Media.

Fall Semester Kicks Off With Welcome Week at BCC
Berkeley City College opened the Fall semester with Welcome Week festivities, offering food, fun, and information to get students off to a successful start. On the first day of class, BCC provided free pastries and hot drinks for students on the way to their morning classes. On Tuesday, students were served burritos from Chiquis Food Truck during college hours in the Atrium.

Fall 2024 Preparations at BCC’s Manager’s Retreat
On Thursday, August 8, Berkeley City College administrators convened at their annual Manager’s Retreat at the Faculty Club at UC Berkeley. President Richardson led the group through team-building exercises, an overview of the College’s strategic plan, a discussion on innovative approaches to closing equity gaps, and a review of the Mission, Vision, and Values.

Teacher Preparation Program Apprentices Graduate
On Thursday, June 6, Berkeley City College hosted its graduation ceremony for apprentices in the Teacher Preparation Program. 43 apprentices representing cohorts from the YMCA of the East Bay Early Educator Apprentices, Girls Inc. Of Alameda County Expanded Learning Apprentices, and the Oakland Unified School District Oaktown Leaders Preapprentices walked the stage and received their certificates of proficiency.
