A dedicated team of representatives from the Peralta Community College District recently journeyed to Southern California for the July ASCCC (Academic Senate for California Community Colleges) Curriculum Institute. Embracing a fitting Star Trek theme, the institute celebrated curriculum leaders who "go boldly... where no one has gone before" in their commitment to academic innovation.
The Peralta delegation included:
- Leslie Blackie (District Academic Senate President)
- Mathew Goldstein (Past President DAS and ASCCC Statewide Curriculum Committee Member)
- Ann Chun (College of Alameda Curriculum Specialist)
- Sara Alturk (Merritt College Counselor and Curriculum Committee Vice-Chair)
- Nancy Cayton (Berkeley City College Curriculum Specialist)
- Lisa Cook (Vice President of Instruction, Merritt College)
- John Reager (Laney College Curriculum Co-Chair)
- Heather Sisneros (Council on Instruction, Planning and Development Chair)
- Iolani Sodhy-Gereben (Laney College Curriculum Specialist and Statewide ASCCC Curriculum Committee Member) - Not pictured
- Ivy (Thao) Tran (Laney College Articulation Officer) - Not pictured
Their participation underscores Peralta's commitment to staying at the forefront of curriculum development, ensuring that our colleges continue to offer cutting-edge and relevant educational opportunities for our students.
Many thanks to Dr. Leslie Blackie for “beaming“ us this cool photo of the Peralta Colleges cohort at that ASCCC Curriculum Institute.
