Students Promote AMT at the Hayward Executive Airport Open House

CoA Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program representatives were invited to participate in the Hayward Executive Airport’s Open House Salute to Veterans and First Responders event on September 11, 2022, at the Hayward Airport. AMT Facility Supervisor Esther Cheng and 14 very enthusiastic AMT student volunteers staffed CoA’s booth at the event, providing information about the College’s popular aviation technology program.

Mask Policy Update for Spring 2023 Semester

Dear Peralta Community,

 

Per our policy to follow Alameda County Public Health Department guidelines, and based on discussions with union leaders, it is agreed that in January 2023 masks will become optional on Peralta Community College District (PCCD) property and will no longer be required. People may choose to mask at any time.

CoA ADAM Program students were featured in the 2022 Designer Showcase at Fibershed’s Rooted in Simplicity event, on September 17, 2022, at the Fibershed Learning Center in Point Reyes, California. ADAM students Chi Do and Lina Egutkina participated in an innovative workshop that focused on making indigo dye vats at the Fibershed Learning Center in June 2022.

Spring is Free at the Peralta Community College District

OAKLAND, Calif., November 16, 2022 – Course registration fees are being waived for the Spring 2023 semester at all four of the colleges within the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) in the East Bay: Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College. The fee waiver is available to all California residents – documented and undocumented – who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There is no minimum course credit requirement.

COA Majors Enrolled in Six Units or More in Spring 2023 Will Receive $500 Grant Plus All Classes Will Be Offered Free of Charge

Alameda, CA – November xx, 2022 — All qualified College of Alameda (CoA) students can enroll in Spring Semester 2023 classes free of charge. In addition to free classes, CoA majors enrolled in six or more units also will receive a $500 cash grant that they can spend on books, supplies, or other expenses. CoA is one of the few California community colleges to offer a combination of free classes and cash grants for qualified students for the Spring 2023 Semester. (Some restrictions do apply.)
