COA Hosts Annual Committed Day and In-Person Orientation for the 2024-2025 Incoming Class
On Thursday, July 25, 2024, College of Alameda hosted CoA Committed Day and the first In-Person Orientation since the pandemic. Both events were designed to engage, inform, and prepare our new students for the 2024-25 academic year. Preparing for our incoming students was campus campus-wide collaborative effort.

On May 25th, former Peralta Community College District Chancellor, Dr. Donald H. Godbold, passed away. He was 95 years old.

OAKLAND, Calif., June 12, 2024 – At their regular meeting last night, the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Melanie Dixon as the new president of the College of Alameda, effective July 15, 2024.

College of Alameda's 2024 Commencement Ceremony
The College of Alameda (COA) held its 2024 commencement ceremony on Friday, May 2, 2024. More than 200 students, faculty, administrators, district leaders, Board of Trustees members, Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Chancellor Tammeil Gilkerson, and COA Acting President Pamela Luster participated in the procession.

COA Celebrates Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month with Flavorful Cultural Event
COA celebrated Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage (APIDA) Month with the “Oodles of Noodles” event on May 1, 2024. The APIDA Heritage Month Planning Committee was delighted with the fantastic turnout. It was especially heartwarming to learn that for some students, faculty, and staff, it was their first time experiencing a vermicelli bowl and boba drink. This was one of a series of three events held at the College in early May celebrating APIDA Heritage Month.
