The Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees, administration, faculty and staff continue to focus on our district's financial stability, full accreditation, and recent growth in student enrollment stemming from recent “Spring is Free” and “Fall is Free” enrollment campaigns. We trust this statement clears up any misinformation and informs the community about our next steps with regard to our permanent chancellor search.
OAKLAND, Calif., March 8, 2023 – The Peralta Community College District has appointed Paulina Gonzalez-Brito (They/Them/Elle) as its Trustee for Area 2. Gonzalez-Brito was chosen at a special meeting of the Board of Trustees on March 7, the final stage in a deliberate and thorough two-month section process.

In November, Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Trustee Kevin Jenkins was elected to represent District 6 on the Oakland city council. Trustee Jenkins vacated his seat on the Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees on January 9th, 2023, creating a Board Vacancy for
Trustee Area 2.
Leesa Hogan, a Merritt College graduate and continuing student who serves as a Student Trustee on the Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees as well as President of the Associated Students of Merritt College was recently chosen to be a part of the Advisory Committee on Educational Services for the Community College League of California (CCLC). Student Trustee Hogan sat with Mark Johnson, Executive Director of Marketing, Communication, and Public Relations on September 16, 2022 to talk about this prestigious appointment and her experiences as a student leader at Merritt College and the Peralta Community College District.
Every ten years, local governments use new census data to redraw their district lines to reflect how local populations have changed. For Peralta Community College District, this means we need to re-evaluate the boundaries of the seven areas from which our Board of Trustees serve.
Redistricting determines which neighborhoods and communities are grouped together into a district for purposes of electing a Trustee.
The Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees convened twice during January 2022 which included a Board Retreat on January 11th and a regular meeting on January 25th.
The Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 for another productive meeting. Meeting highlights included a deep dive into how the Peralta Colleges are spending federal relief funds, a preview of the Functional Maps that articulate the division of labor between the District and the Colleges, and a contract extension to keep Dr. Jannett N. Jackson as Interim Chancellor through December 2023.
The Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 for a very efficient and productive meeting. The full meeting was divided into three parts: a brief public session, a closed session, then the regular public meeting.
On September 14, 2021, the Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees met for their first regular meeting since July 27th. While there was a lengthy
