The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) has elected Dr. Nathaniel Jones III as Commissioner serving as a Higher Education Finance member with a term beginning on July 1, 2023. Dr. Jones is currently serving as the Interim Vice Chancellor of Finance & Administration for the Peralta Community College District and has over 20 years of experience in higher education administration. He is a strong advocate for equity and access in education, and he is committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed.

CoA Distance Education Team Tackles Fake Students Problem
As if teaching online during a pandemic wasn't difficult enough, 2021 brings California Community Colleges a new challenge: fraudulent enrollments and"fake" students. Authorities believe more than 60,000 fake applications for financial aid were submitted statewide, as reported by the Los Angeles Times, the Sacramento Bee, and the New York Times.

On Saturday, June 5, 2021 the Peralta Community joined together online for a joyous graduation fiesta. The first annual Peralta Community College District Latinx Graduation Celebration , called Raíces (or "roots") was sponsored by the Peralta Association of Chicanos/Latinos de Aztlán (PACLA).
