We really appreciate the approximately 200 community members who participated for taking the time to register, attend, and share their thoughts and concerns as the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) works on our five-year strategic plan and the Peralta Colleges – Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College – work on their educational master plans.

OAKLAND, Calif., November 16, 2022 – Course registration fees are being waived for the Spring 2023 semester at all four of the colleges within the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) in the East Bay: Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College. The fee waiver is available to all California residents – documented and undocumented – who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There is no minimum course credit requirement.

Laney Employees, Students, Childcare Staff Make Halloween Special

On October 31, 2022, student government members (ASLC) and College employees hosted a Halloween event for children in the Laney Childcare Center. Roughly 70 kids participated in the parade and games that were held at the Laney Bistro. There were decorated tables with treats supported by different Laney & District departments.

The Charrette was a community forum where PCCD and the four colleges: Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College, solicited input from students, faculty, classified professionals, and community partners in helping to shape PCCD’s strategic master plan and the colleges’ educational master plans for the next five years.

Alameda, CA – November xx, 2022 — All qualified College of Alameda (CoA) students can enroll in Spring Semester 2023 classes free of charge. In addition to free classes, CoA majors enrolled in six or more units also will receive a $500 cash grant that they can spend on books, supplies, or other expenses. CoA is one of the few California community colleges to offer a combination of free classes and cash grants for qualified students for the Spring 2023 Semester. (Some restrictions do apply.)

Laney was pleased to welcome Congresswoman Barbara Lee and her staff as they hosted a panel discussion entitled “What’s at Stake: Reproductive Freedom at the Ballot Box.” Also appearing on the panel were Congresswoman Judy Chu, She the People Founder Aimee Allison, Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju, and Lauren Babb, who is the Vice President of Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood and the Chair of the California Commission on the Status of Women.
