Our hearts are broken over the tragic deaths of nineteen elementary school children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022. It comes less than two weeks after a shooter at Tops Supermarket in Buffalo, New York, left ten people dead. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families in Uvalde, and Buffalo, and families across the United States who have lost loved ones to gun violence. But thoughts and prayers are not enough. Our national leaders must take action to keep our communities – and our children – safe from gun violence.
LaNiece Jones, Executive Director of the Peralta Colleges Foundation, is busy - very busy - raising money to help financially support students in the Peralta Community College District. As I write this article, she is extraordinarily focused on preparations for the Foundation's major fundraising event of the spring, the Dr. William "Bill" Riley Golf Tournament which will take place at Sequoyah Country Club on Monday, May 23, 2022. We depend upon the generosity of our community and hope you can join us in person or at least make a donation!

OAKLAND, Calif., May 6, 2022 – As the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) plans for the next fiscal year beginning on July 1, 2022, we want to provide an update on our current financial status.
Today, Peralta Colleges Foundation and The PepsiCo Foundation announced the launch of the Uplift Scholarship program to support our most underserved students of the Peralta Colleges consisting of Laney College, Merritt College, College of Alameda, and Berkeley City College, who are pursuing two-year degrees and professional certificate programs. In addition, to financial assistance, the program provides students with dedicated success coaches, access to emergency grants, and financial literacy courses.
OAKLAND, Calif., March 16, 2022 – The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) is pleased to announce a partnership with 100K Trees for Humanity, an urban reforestation tree planting nonprofit organization. The collaboration includes an extensive Workforce Development MOU as part of a new Environmental Justice partnership between the environmental organization and the Community College District.

Every ten years, local governments use new census data to redraw their district lines to reflect how local populations have changed. For Peralta Community College District, this means we need to re-evaluate the boundaries of the seven areas from which our Board of Trustees serve.
Redistricting determines which neighborhoods and communities are grouped together into a district for purposes of electing a Trustee.
