The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) is on the frontier of providing unarmed safety and support for our students, faculty, staff, and community members.   

The upbeat online celebration of CoA’s 50th Anniversary took place on December 1, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. It opened with a cheerful greeting from the College’s Cougar mascot, thanks to Joshua Sanders, Student Athlete/Men’s Basketball team member, who donned the costume for the occasion. CoA President Dr. Nathaniel Jones III, gave the official welcome. Over 170 students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members attended he gala, which featured heartwarming student testimonials and special guest presentations by Representative Barbara Lee, Assemblymember Rob Bonta, Alameda Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, Interim PCCD Chancellor Dr. Carla Walter, PCCD Trustee Bill Withrow, and Chief Executive Officer of Alameda Alliance for Health Scott Coffin, among others.

We are all going to be home a ton in the following weeks of December and January, and we'll all be likely spending a decent amount of time watching television. Our Peralta Colleges station, Peralta TV, has a great selection of programming to keep us learning about the world. Here are a selection of highlights from December and early January on the station.

The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) is starting Spring semester registration and enrollment is now open for everyone with Spring semester classes beginning on January 25, 2021.

ALAMEDA, CA – Today, the Peralta Community College District (PCCD) unveiled its latest accomplishment under an ambitious, multimillion-dollar capital improvement plan: completion of the New Center for Liberal Arts (Building H) at the College of Alameda. The nearly 54,000 square foot, building offers specialized facilities for programming in the divisions of Liberal Studies and Language Arts, and Career and Workforce Education, and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math with classroom space in a variety of academic disciplines. This success was preceded by a successful bond refinance earlier this year that saved taxpayers $5 million and earned the District a higher credit rating from Moody’s.

Did you know that many high-paying careers don’t require a four-year college degree? Employment options in technical fields are growing rapidly, and the opportunities are plentiful - especially at Laney College. The Peralta Community College District is pleased to announce that Berkeley City College, Laney College, and Merritt College are being recognized for their exemplary educational work in implementing the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) programs by the Campaign for College Opportunity.  

All four of the Peralta Colleges are fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) and remain so during a probationary period that began in January 2020.  We are pleased to report that the colleges of Peralta Community College District are making progress on removing their probationary status.
