On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Merritt College students, staff, faculty, and administrators joined PUENTE'S celebration of Día de los Muertos, coming together to honor and remember loved ones who have passed. This meaningful gathering occurred in the Student Lounge, Library, and hallways of the R-building.
On Thursday, May 16th, Merritt College held its district-wide Raíces Graduation for Latinx students. "There were so many memories made that evening," said Chancellor Tammeil Gilkerson.
BCC noted for both overall high transfer rate to four year universities and as Equity Champion for awarding Associates Degrees for Transfer to Latinx students
On Saturday, June 5, 2021 the Peralta Community joined together online for a joyous graduation fiesta. The first annual Peralta Community College District Latinx Graduation Celebration , called Raíces (or "roots") was sponsored by the Peralta Association of Chicanos/Latinos de Aztlán (PACLA).
