KGPC radio directly serves the Peralta Community College District's students, faculty and staff, East Bay cities and international audiences that listen to the streaming broadcast. It exists to serve Oakland and the Peralta Community Colleges with award-winning local programming that make it a treasure for PCCD. The station is a resource that allows individuals to get involved in local media production and add their voice to the airwaves. It is one of the few "LP-FM" stations to be licensed by the FCC, an act that the FCC may not do again, ever. Take a listen and hear the wave of the East Bay, KGPC.

Leadership Update regarding Accreditation Status

On June 28, 2021, Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College and Merritt College each received official communication from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC). During their June 9-11, 2021 meeting, the ACCJC reviewed the Special Reports, Institutional Self Evaluation Reports (ISERs) and peer review site visit reports from December 2020 and March 2021 to determine whether the Peralta Colleges met accreditation standards. As we anticipated, the ACCJC acted to continue the status of Probation originally imposed in January 2020, with a required follow-up report due by October 1, 2021, in turn to be followed by a visit from a peer review team.

There's also some great programming, exploring music: learn the story of classical music in Austria, watch a beautiful documentary large brass bells in the remote ethnic Yao village of Huaili, China, and hear a young Johnny Cash in his own voice. Chancellor's Announcement: Alameda Rescinds Shelter in Place Order

| Dear Peralta Community, Alameda County has released Health Officer Order Number 21-01a which took effect at 12:01 am on Tuesday June 15, 2021. This new order rescinds the Alameda County shelter in place order that has been in effect (in some form) since March 2020. After nearly 15 months, the shelter in place order implemented to help keep the community safe from the spread of COVID-19 has been lifted. That is good news for sure. |
Virtual Matchmaking event for Berkeley City College's new building project

On June 30, 2021 at 9am, Peralta Community College District's Bond Program will host an overview and virtual matchmaking session for the Berkeley City College West - Milvia Project. Firms will then have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the project's Design-Build Team, XL Construction/Ratcliff, to discuss subcontracting opportunities.

Peralta and Alameda County Partner to Provide COVID Vaccine at Laney

On Monday, June 7, 2021 at Laney College, free Moderna COVID vaccinations were given to students, staff, their families, and community members. Interim Chancellor Dr. Jannett N. Jackson provided an update on the vaccine event during the Chancellor's Report at the June 8, 2021 Board of Trustees meeting.
