College of Alameda (CoA) celebrated a major milestone on September 30, 2025, with the ribbon cutting of its new Transportation Technology Center (TTC), a $36 million state-of-the-art facility built to serve the next generation of skilled transportation technicians. The project, made possible through Bond Measure G, reflects the Peralta Community College District’s commitment to career education and community advancement.

The Peralta Community College District's (PCCD) Parcel Tax Oversight Committee (PTOC) convened at PCCD headquarters on October 8, 2025, to review expenditures and receive in-depth presentations from the four College Presidents and the Finance team on how Measure E parcel tax funds are directly supporting core academic programs and student services.

September District Service Center Roadshows

On September 10th and 11th, the District Service Center leadership joined me in visiting each of the colleges. It was a great experience engaging with colleagues about our strategic vision to create a unified, equity-centered district, streamlining programs, aligning resources, and forging clear, student-first pathways that remove barriers, accelerate success, and set a new standard for community college excellence.

Last month, three Peralta student leaders, Kosi Ugeh (Merritt College), Davina Malbrough (Merritt College), and Njemah Khan (College of Alameda), participated in the 2025 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.

Transfer Day 2025

Laney College hosted Transfer Day on Monday, October 6, bringing college and university representatives to campus to meet directly with students. The event, held in the Laney Quad, provided students the opportunity to explore programs and majors, ask questions about admissions, and gather important information on transfer requirements and deadlines.

A Milestone Achievement

The Transportation and Technology Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony marked a defining moment for the College of Alameda and the broader community. Over 70 attendees joined to celebrate this transformative facility for the Alameda community. Celebrating Latinx Heritage Month at Berkeley City College

Latinx Heritage Month kicked off on September 15, and Berkeley City College is celebrating with a series of vibrant events highlighting Latinx culture, creativity, and community. Throughout September, students explored Latinx Book Displays at the Berkeley City College Library, featuring a diverse collection of works by Latinx authors.

The Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) is a state-funded program designed to provide support services to low-income and academically disadvantaged students to become successful in college.
