Merritt College Celebrates 40-Year Legacy with Oakland PAL Track Meet
Merritt College recently commemorated our long-standing partnership with a remarkable community organization led by one of our most beloved colleagues. On Saturday, March 22, the Oakland Police Activities League (PAL) celebrated 40 years of track and field by holding its annual Oakland PAL Community Meet here at the College.

Laney College Hosts Successful Community Job Hiring Event
On March 20, 2025, Laney College hosted a Community Job Hiring Event, providing students, alumni, and community members with information about employment opportunities. Attendees connected with employers from organizations such as the Oakland Zoo, ChildCare Careers, Oakland Marriott City Center, CareBuilders at Home East Bay, Allied Universal Event Services, The Plus Group, and Youth Together.

BCC Hosts Community Partners Breakfast
On Wednesday, March 26, Berkeley City College hosted its annual Community Partners Breakfast. Over 100 counselors, dual enrollment partners, college advisors, and administrators from local high schools and higher education partners attended.

Honoring Our Newly-Tenured Faculty Colleagues
This semester we have two individuals who have attained a significant milestone—achieving tenure as a Merritt College faculty member!!! Lissette Dominguez and Taslima Rehman (along with eleven of their colleagues across Peralta) were honored at the District Reception, in an event that represents a high mark in their professional journey. Laney College Engagement at Oakland Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade
Laney College classified professionals and administrators promoted the College and fostered goodwill for the Year of the Snake at the February 22 Lunar New Year Parade. The annual event is organized by the Oakland Chinatown Neighborhood Improvement Council and once again, colleagues devoted their Saturdays to answer questions at the College’s information table.

Northern California Regional Playoffs
The Men’s Basketball Team delivered an electrifying season, demonstrating relentless dedication both on and off the court. Competing in the fiercely competitive Bay Valley Conference, the College of Alameda secured an impressive #24 seed, facing off against College of the Redwoods in the playoffs before advancing to battle San Jose.

Berkeley City College Campus Showcase
Berkeley City College welcomed Chancellor Tammeil Gilkerson and the PCCD Board of Trustees to showcase BCC for the February 25 Board of Trustees Meeting. President Denise Richardson, along with other BCC leaders, led a tour of campus and provided updates on programs and services.

Merritt College’s Two-Day Express Enrollment Event commenced this past weekend. Students were greeted with music, snacks, and most important, services ranging from Admissions and Records support, counseling, and financial aid.
