The Peralta Colleges were well-represented in the March 2024 issue of "LIFT your Voice”, a publication of the Leadership Institute for Tomorrow at Cal State Fullerton, which aims to impact higher-education systems and communities by developing a new generation of diverse, confident, and competent leaders with the change agency to reconstruct community colleges, universities, and organizations into just, equitable, and inclusive institutions free of racism.
Peralta Community College District Celebrates Faculty Tenure Achievements

The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) held a reception on March 12, 2024, to honor 15 faculty members across all four colleges within the district: Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College; who were approved for tenure later that night by the Board of Trustees. Their tenured status takes effect with the 2024-25 academic year.

Former Merritt College President Dr. Robert "Bobby" Adams has passed away
Current Merritt College President Dr. David M. Johnson shared this message with the Merritt Community:
It is with a heavy heart that I share some very sad news. Our former Merritt College President Dr. Bobby Adams passed away this weekend. Dr. Adams served this college faithfully from 2007 until his retirement in 2012. I do not have any additional details at this time but will share them as more information is made available.

Ms. Maria Valencia currently works in the Office of Instruction as the assistant to the VPI. She describes herself as a first-generation student from a very impoverished background, but also as someone who always had a strong desire to earn a college degree.
