The Peralta Community College District is proud to celebrate the eleven faculty members granted tenure by the Board of Trustees during their meeting on March 10, 2026, an achievement honored during a vibrant reception before the board meeting that recognized their role in maintaining high academic standards.

Celebrating Tenure and Instructional Excellence

One of the most significant milestones in an academic career is the awarding of tenure, a recognition of sustained excellence in teaching, service, and commitment to students. Tenure represents the pinnacle of faculty achievement and reflects the trust institutions place in educators to steward academic integrity, intellectual inquiry, and student learning for years to come.

As students return to College of Alameda’s campus for the Spring 2026 semester, CoA is proud to spotlight the wide range of services that support students throughout their academic journeys. One program of particular significance is the Basic Needs program, which has recently expanded its offerings to better serve the campus community.

Black History Month Engagement and Community Learning

College of Alameda is observing Black History Month with a series of thoughtfully designed events that center on education, culture, reflection, and community connection. A highlight of the month was The Rich Blend: Black Excellence, Freshly Brewed, held on February 3, 2026, which was well attended by students, faculty, staff, and members of the broader community.

Student Excellence in Motion: Creativity, Performance, and Purpose

College of Alameda continues to demonstrate the extraordinary creativity, leadership, and determination of our students across disciplines.

The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) proudly announces that all four of its colleges – Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College – have been designated as Black-Serving Institutions (BSI), a state recognition for colleges and universities that demonstrate excellence in supporting Black and African American students. 

There’s nothing quite like the joy of being honored for the passion, effort, and artistry you devote to your craft. Creating something meaningful is already an accomplishment - but receiving a heartfelt “Well done!” on a major platform elevates that achievement into something unforgettable. 

Daniel Morga lives in Oakland and started working on cars with his dad at an early age. Ever since he was a little kid, he's always been fascinated by how cars work, how they are repaired, and using the right tool for the right job. He especially loves working for friends and neighbors, helping people get back on the road and knowing that his work has made a real difference in people's lives.

Like many other students, Stephen Hebrard is an overcomer. He is passionate about excelling in his education and is willing to face the challenges as they come - head on. As one of the assistant coaches for the Men’s basketball team at College of Alameda, Hebrard shares how EOPs has not only been a wonderful resource for his players, but even for himself.
