May is Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and Peralta TV is here with a selection of programs that showcase AAPI art & culture and address the societal hardships that Asians and Asian Americans have faced in the past and still do today.
Merritt College Career Fair
Kudos to the individuals responsible for putting on the Merritt College Career Center and Job Development Fair on April 8, 2022. Merritt had about fifty students in attendance, and the event featured presentations from several East Bay employers, including the YMCA of the East Bay, ChildCare Careers, the Unity Council, Duck’s Nest Preschool, Kidango, Oakland Unified School District, and City of Oakland Head Start.
Alameda State of the City Event Attracts Over 200 Attendees
CoA and PCCD representatives attended the Alameda State of the City event on April 7, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., hosted by the Alameda Chamber of Commerce aboard the USS Hornet, a museum ship, located on the southernmost pier of the former Naval Air Station in Alameda.

The award recognizes Berkeley City College for successfully supporting 100% of Black students to enroll directly into transfer-level English coursework.

The Peralta Community College District’s second global Online Equity Conference is happening this week!
The conference will take place virtually from April 27-29, 2022. We welcome equity-minded students, educators, staff, and leaders who represent colleges, universities, non-profit organizations, and vendors from all around the world. Our goals are 1) to increase the visibility of all efforts to increase learning equity in higher education and 2) to bring together institutions that want to share and adopt equitable practices for all online students globally.

College of Alameda President Nathaniel Jones II noted 'the college is thankful for the recognition of the College of Alameda’s work to foster greater levels of achievement equity.'
