COA President takes temporary assignment to lead the District Finance and Administration Department; COA Vice President of Instruction to become Acting President

OAKLAND, Calif., September 6, 2022 – Earlier today, Peralta Community College District Interim Chancellor Dr. Jannett N. Jackson notified employees regarding a leadership change at the College of Alameda (COA), with Dr. Diana Bajrami to become Acting President on September 12, 2022, filling in for Dr. Nathaniel Jones III, who is on a temporary assignment as Acting Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration for the District. The temporary assignments for both Dr. Jones and Dr. Bajrami are for six months, with an option to extend if needed.

Fall is right around the corner, and along with the changing of the leaves, Peralta TV celebrates Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month this September with a selection of programming that highlights art, culture, and incredible stories of perseverance and determination.

Welcome back to the faculty who were on break this summer! We were recently notified by the state Chancellor’s Office that access to Zoom via CCCConfer will be changing. On the evening of August 15, 2022, the CCC ConferZoom application will be replaced by a new and improved application called CCC Tech Connect Zoom.

ALAMEDA, Calif., August 3, 2022 – Have you ever wanted to go to college on an island? There’s never been a better time to attend the College of Alameda (COA), on the island of Alameda in the East Bay, which is offering students “$500 On Us” for the Fall 2022 semester.

On July 7, 2022, a meeting was held between the Peralta Community College District and the City of Berkeley Mayor's Office to discuss the Berkeley City College expansion project at 2118 Milvia Street. The PCCD Bond Program Team hosted the meeting as part of the Bond Program Outreach Community Partner Series, briefing the City of Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguín and Vice Mayor Kate Harrison and other Mayor's Office staff including Dyana Delfín Polk, who serves as Vice President of the Peralta Board of Trustees. District leadership in attendance included Dr. Jannett Jackson (Interim Chancellor), Atheria Smith (Interim Vice Chancellor of General Services), Mark Johnson (Executive Director of Marketing, Communication & Public Relations), Dr. Angelíca Garcia (Berkeley City College President), and Sean Brooks (Berkeley City College Vice President of Administration).

 Peralta TV goes back to school a little early for August. This month's programming includes the study of wildlife migration patterns, the struggles of returning to school as a dropout, one teacher's unorthodox method of instruction, and how the ever-present world of technology influences younger generations.

On Tuesday, May 17th, the Office of International Education staff celebrated the class of 2022 with an online graduation ceremony. Special guest speakers included Interim Deputy Chancellor/Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Droker, Ed.D, and Tram Thi Kim Nguyen, a graduating international student from Vietnam who completed the AS-T in Business Administration at Laney College.
