On May 9, 2024, Roberto Reyes received the Ozzie Day Scholarship from the College of Alameda Automotive Technology Department.
Roberto Reyes has been interested in Auto Tech since he was a toddler. His dad was a mechanic. When he was young, he even loved video games centered around cars. As a teen, he saved his money and bought his first car as soon as he got a driver’s license. After high school, he enrolled in COA Automotive Technology (Atech) classes. He's now one semester from graduating with an Engine Performance certificate in addition to specialist certificates in Automotive Electronics and Chassis. After graduation, he plans to work for a local dealership. His goal is to become a National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified "master mechanic."
The Ozzie Day Scholarship is a $750 scholarship, which is awarded by the Atech Department to the student with the highest grade point average and the most units in the Atech Program. The scholarship was set up in memory of Ozzie Day, the founder of Automotive Engineering and a long-time member of the COA Automotive Advisory Committee.
