I am pleased to announce that Mr. Augustine Gill is College of Alameda’s new Vice President of Administrative Services, effective January 3, 2022.
College of Alameda (CoA) is proud to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website on January 4, 2022. Along with the new website, CoA has changed its Uniform Resource Locator (URL) from http://alameda.peralta.edu to https://alameda.edu. Visitors using the old URL will be redirected to the new website for the next three months. It's recommended that students and community members update their bookmarks to the new website address.
Laney Mourns the Loss of Cosmetology Instructor
Laney Professor Helen Curry passed away on Tuesday, November 16, while in the care of her family. To honor her memory, the members of the Laney College Council dedicated its meeting of November 17 meeting to her name and enduring legacy, and a Celebration of Life event was held for her on December 14 in the afternoon.
Merritt College Care Team
Merritt College is pleased to share that it has established a CARE team at the campus. Conceived of as a behavioral intervention initiative at many colleges across the country, the Merritt College CARE Team is committed to going beyond merely responding to reports of at-risk students displaying varying levels of disruptive, disturbed and/or distressed behaviors.
BCC: Helping Our Community Through the Holidays
Just before the holiday break, Berkeley City College collaborated with the Berkeley Food Network in providing food to students for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We gave away free frozen chickens, pumpkin puree, beans, stuffing, canned fruit, rice, and other goodies! Many of the students who came to pick up food expressed their gratitude for helping them have a meal during the November holiday break. What a wonderful way to put a smile on someone’s face!

As we near the winter break and continue preparations for Spring semester Return to Campus (RTC), I would like to invite you to a Town Hall meeting on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 10am to affirm and update you on our health and safety measures, especially as they relate to vaccinations. The webinar will be recorded and made available on YouTube, as with our prior RTC Town Hall.
As we head into the Fall semester Finals Week, I wanted to share some thoughts with you before the end of the year and everyone takes a well-deserved break.
On Monday, December 6, 2021, the Peralta Colleges Foundation revived its annual golf tournament and this year titled the tournament after Peralta’s long serving retired board trustee Dr. William “Bill” Riley.
