Spring Fest 2.0 Highlighted by Large Campus, Student, Community Turnout

On March 16, Laney College held its second mid-semester One-Stop event, a hybrid gathering. After the initial modest turnout in the Fall, at least 200 students and prospective students took part to learn about programs and receive additional support, all while being treated to lunch served by the Food Services team and Laney College administrators. Attendees were greeted by celebratory balloons that were Beautifully Branded by Adina Meza. Working with the community, Laney welcomed students and staff from our OUSD partners at McClymonds and Metwest High Schools.

CoA joins the Second California Community Colleges Racial Equity Leadership Alliance

CoA’s executive leadership team is deeply committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at the College. Advancing DEI is one of the four CoA institutional priorities for Academic Year 21-22. As part of our work to advance DEI and commitment to equitable student success, CoA has joined 68 other California Community Colleges in participating in the second California Community Colleges Racial Equity Leadership Alliance.

Berkeley City College Mid-Semester Flex Day

On Tuesday, March 15, Berkeley City College held its mid-semester Flex Day program. The Professional Development team, led by Susan Khan and Adan Olmedo, put together a fun, interactive, and informative program for BCC Faculty and Staff.

Merritt College awarded California Apprenticeship Initiative Grant

Merritt College is proud to announce that we have been awarded the California Apprenticeship Initiative Grant: New and Innovative Programs from the Workforce and Economic Development Division of the State Chancellor's Office. The grant award is for $416,509 and will be used to strengthen our Cybersecurity Apprenticeships and increase access to digital literacy for underserved and underrepresented communities.

March 13th - 19th is National Sunshine Week, which has been celebrated every March since 2005, thanks to the hard work of the American Society of News Editors. Participants include print, broadcast, and online news media, civic groups, non-profits, schools, and libraries. The activities enlighten the public about their right to government information and strengthen their communities.

OAKLAND, Calif., March 16, 2022 – The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) is pleased to announce a partnership with 100K Trees for Humanity, an urban reforestation tree planting nonprofit organization. The collaboration includes an extensive Workforce Development MOU as part of a new Environmental Justice partnership between the environmental organization and the Community College District.
