The profile, titled “Dr. Angélica Garcia: A Commitment to Student Access and Success at Berkeley City College,” focuses on President Garcia’s commitment to student access and success, which frames how she leads the college. She describes access as “more than just getting students through the door.”
BCC Animation Student Wins Sports Emmy

Berkeley City College congratulates former BCC Animation student Logan Wong for winning an Emmy in the “Outstanding Graphic Design – Specialty” category at the 2022 Sports Emmy awards. Wong was recognized for his work on “The Portal,” an animated series produced by Bleacher Report.

On Wednesday, January 11, we came together for the relaunch of the Street Scholars Program, and suffice it to say it was an absolute success. Street Scholars is a program that focuses on peer mentoring and support services to promote the academic success of formerly incarcerated students. That evening the community presence was in full swing, as prospective students, those currently enrolled, and alumni learned the history of this tremendous program.

Laney College Awarded $1.4 million MESA Program Grant
Laney is honored to be selected to offer a Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA) program. With the funds received from the state totaling more than a million dollars, we will be able to provide tutoring and counseling services to many students in underrepresented communities, as well as others in these fields. Students will receive a strong foundation on which to build successful futures. We are proud to launch this initiative, which will be a collaboration with Merritt College under the terms of the grant. Special thanks to Dean of Math & Sciences Angel Fuentes Figueroa for his leadership in the successful application!
