What started as an idea finally came to fruition as Alameda Unified School District’s Encinal High School KJTZ Radio and Peralta Community Radio KGPC have teamed together to produce the KGPC Headline News. Now retired broadcast engineer for Peralta TV, Jim Stein thought the two entities should collaborate, but the Covid pandemic stalled previous efforts. Current KGPC manager, Dr. Felicia Bridges picked up the mantel and reached out to Alameda Unified School District’s CTE Pathway Specialist, Felicia Vargas, to discuss what a collaboration might look like.

KGPC bids farewell to Devin Herrell, who joined KGPC in Fall 2021 to support basic operations at the station. Devin was responsible for research, writing, and was the voice of the Community Calendar. He is also the new voice of the KGPC voicemail system.
KGPC radio directly serves the Peralta Community College District's students, faculty and staff, East Bay cities and international audiences that listen to the streaming broadcast. It exists to serve Oakland and the Peralta Community Colleges with award-winning local programming that make it a treasure for PCCD. The station is a resource that allows individuals to get involved in local media production and add their voice to the airwaves. It is one of the few "LP-FM" stations to be licensed by the FCC, an act that the FCC may not do again, ever. Take a listen and hear the wave of the East Bay, KGPC.
The Peralta Community College District welcomes Dr. Joya Chavarin, as the new interim Dean, Math, Science, Business, and Applied Technology at Berkeley City College. She began her role on June 29, 2020. Please take a moment to say hello and welcome her to the College Community.
