We are excited to welcome Marcus Creel as the new Graphic Design Specialist for the Peralta Community College District.
In previous roles, Marcus has taken the lead on several community-centered campaigns ranging from projects with Google, the Oakland A’s, and various Bay Area nonprofits. While he specializes in digital illustration and branding, Marcus has strong roots in traditional art and carries these design principles wherever he goes.
Marcus began his career path as the first in his family to graduate from college. As an alumnus from Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, Marcus is a strong proponent to promoting and giving back to the community. He was acting graphic designer and interim club president for the Puente Project, which empowers Latino students to receive an Associates’ degree and transfer to a 4-year university.
His passion for supporting others followed him to Cal State East Bay, where he majored in Multimedia. During his time at East Bay, he was club president and lead designer of a new learning community called Gaining Access ’N’ Academic Success, abbreviated to the Spanish word “GANAS,” which has a variety of meanings including Effort, Strength, and Determination. GANAS, an East Bay exclusive program, was piloted after the Puente Project with the hopes of expanding into the rest of the CSU System
As a first-generation college graduate and community college alumni, Marcus brings his passion and excitement to our Marketing Department; he looks forward to helping the district and four colleges put their best foot forward when communicating internally and with the broader community.
