Enrollment Recap: Who’s at Berkeley City College?

The Fall 2022 semester is underway at Berkeley City College! There’s a definitive buzz around campus as the college hosts our welcome events, registration workshops, and an increased in-person campus. BCC’s outreach efforts including recruitment efforts at local high schools, marketing and news coverage of the “Fall is Free at BCC” campaign have brought a lot of new faces and returning students back to campus.

“BCC in the Community” Outreach Launch

Berkeley City College launched the BCC in the Community outreach effort the week of July 11. BCC President Angélica Garcia, Student Ambassador Noel Arikew, Outreach Coordinator Gail Pendleton, Dr. Martin De Mucha Flores, and Public Information Officer Tom Rizza, visited 5 BCC students at their homes and workplaces.

Berkeley City College Visual Arts Student Wins Berkeley PSA Art Contest

Berkeley City College Visual Arts student Jerry Hsiao won first prize in the BCC Art Contest sponsored by the BCC Public Health Club, and funded by the Community Health Education Institute and the City of Berkeley. Club members focus on sugar-sweetened beverage education on the health hazards of sugar, advocacy, and art contests through grants from the Sugar-Sweetened Beverage tax from the City of Berkeley.

Berkeley City College Educational Master Plan-DREAMing 5 Years Out

The Accreditation Commission for Community & Junior Colleges (ACCJC) sets and evaluates the standards for the California Community College system. BCC’s most recent accreditation peer-team site visit and Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER) highlighted many of the college’s previous strategic priorities, such as growth in Dual Enrollment, increase in equitable transfer rates, growth in career education programs, and comprehensive academic and student supports.

Berkeley City College Class of 2022 Graduation Ceremonies

Berkeley City College held two graduation ceremonies to celebrate the Class of 2022. BCC’s Virtual Graduation ceremony was held live on YouTube on Thursday, May 26. Over 650 students were recognized for receiving degrees, certificates, and noncredit completion.

BCC Society of Scholars Graduation Ceremony

Berkeley City college Society of Scholars and the Undocumented Community Resource celebrated their ICONIC Class of 2022 graduates and their amazing accomplishments on Wednesday, May 18th. The celebration included icon shoutouts and graduates sharing some BCC memorable moments.

Multimedia Art & Film Showcase at BCC

Berkeley City College’s Multimedia Film & Art Department hosted a showcase of student works Wednesday, May 5. It was the first in-person showcase in two years with students and faculty gathering to appreciate the artwork created by students. Photo projects, paintings, and even motion capture technology were on display.

Berkeley City College Recognized by The Campaign for College Opportunity

Berkeley City College is proud to announce we have been named the 2022 Champion for Excelling in Equitable Course Placement in Black English Enrollment by The Campaign for College Opportunity. The award recognizes Berkeley City College for successfully supporting 100% of Black students to enroll directly into transfer-level English coursework. 

Berkeley City College’s First Annual Career Fair

Berkeley City College hosted its First Annual Career Fair on Thursday, April 7. The event was organized by Hispanic Serving Institution Director Verónica Montoya, Outreach Program Specialist Christine Trowbridge, and FDIP Counseling Intern Angelica Peña. The all-day event engaged students in creating career pathways and prepared them for life in the workforce.

Berkeley City College Mid-Semester Flex Day

On Tuesday, March 15, Berkeley City College held its mid-semester Flex Day program. The Professional Development team, led by Susan Khan and Adan Olmedo, put together a fun, interactive, and informative program for BCC Faculty and Staff.
