The College of Alameda has just welcomed new Financial Aid Director Angie Harris, an experienced higher education professional with nearly 20 years of experience. An Oakland native, Harris received her K-12 education with the Oakland Unified School District before attending UC Berkeley, where she earned a B.A. in Rhetoric. She continued her education at Cal State East Bay, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

Harris began her career in financial aid as a work-study student at UC Berkeley. After graduating, Harris continued her work at Berkeley in capacities that involved advising, counseling, outreach, and scholarship management before transitioning to Loyola Marymount University as the Associate Director of Financial Aid. She then moved on to serve as the Director of Financial Aid at Mills College, a role she held until joining the College of Alameda.

"I have a real passion for higher education administration, and my charge has always been to make sure that equity and access are available to all students who want to pursue higher education," said Harris. "And I'm thrilled to be able to continue this work at the College of Alameda."
