Welcome Myron Jordan as Dean of the Liberal Studies and Language Arts Division at COA

Dear colleagues,

Please help me welcome back Mr. Myron Jordan to College of Alameda. Last week the Peralta Board of Trustees approved his return as the interim/acting dean for the Liberal Studies and Language Arts Division.
image002 Before he retired a few years ago, I had the opportunity to work with him as a fellow dean and later as my supervisor while he served as the interim vice president of instruction. In both cases, I enjoyed working with him due to his work ethic, positive outlook/attitude, and his commitment to the college and its students. Needless to say, I am very excited that he will be re-joining and helping our team while I serve as the acting vice president of instruction. While many of you know Dean Jordan, there are some new faculty and staff who haven’t met him before, so please take a few minutes to read his message below:

Greetings,

I am excited to return to College of Alameda in the position of Interim Dean of Liberal Studies and Language Arts Division at the College of Alameda.

With over 24 years of combined experience as a faculty member and administrator, my passion is for creating an environment where learning is not only equitable, but student-centered. My infectious enthusiasm for education drives me to ensure students and faculty are engaged in learning, encouraged and equipped to not only flourish but excel at all educational stages. Inspiring and motivating both students and faculty to succeed are hallmarks of a successful administrator. My experience, educational and administrative background afforded me the opportunity to make positive efforts in student achievement as part of the College of Alameda Educational Plan.

During my academic career at the College I was instrumental in providing the highest level of academic support for students, faculty, classified staff and administration. I look forward to developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with classified staff, faculty, students and administrators.

I recognize the many challenges facing our college and district. However, I also see the opportunity to overcome some of the challenges as we are moving forward.

Myron T. Jordan
Past Interim Vice President of Instruction, College of Alameda
Retired Dean of Liberal Studies and Language Arts, College of Alameda

Let's do our best to welcome Myron back into our community

Regards,
