On Thursday, August 7, the Peralta Colleges Office of International Education hosted its Fall 2025 Welcome Day for all international students across all four colleges. The event was held at Berkeley City College, and featured a speech from BCC president Dr. Denise Richardson, welcoming new and returning students to their home away from home at Peralta. The day was full of social activities as well as stations to inform students of the variety of resources available to them, such as transportation and enrollment assistance.
Below is a written transcript of dialogue spoken by Dr. Denise Richardson, President of Berkeley City College:
"It is with such great joy and gratitude that I welcome you to Berkeley City College. We're truly honored that you've chosen to bring your talents, dreams, and your unique perspectives to our community. Studying in a new country is both an exciting and courageous step, and we understand the challenges and opportunities that come with that.
Today, you will receive an orientation to help you navigate our campus and our district resources. Please know that you are not alone; our faculty, our classified professionals, and your fellow students, we're all here to support you. I also want to let you know that our administrators are here to guide you as well. Oftentimes, students don't realize that there's a whole additional layer of support, with your program directors, your deans, vice presidents, and with me. We are here to hear your feedback, to help you problem solve, and to celebrate your achievements as your community away from home."
