On August 20, 2020, Acting Chancellor Dr. Carla Walter introduced the first of three Budget Webinars to help the Peralta Community learn more about the budgeting process for California Community Colleges in general and specifically for the Peralta Community College District.
The first webinar focused on the Faculty Obligation Number (FON) as well as the Student Centered Funding Formula (SCFF). This session was introduced by Dr. Walter and also featured the following speakers:
- Dr. Siri Brown (Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Student Services)
- Adil Ahmed (Acting Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration)
- Wrenna Finche (Director of Fiscal Standards and Accountability at the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office)
- Omar Gutierrez (Vice President of Administrative Services at Fresno City College)
Mark Johnson (Executive Director, Marketing, Communication & Public Relations) moderated a Q&A session following the speaker presentations. The FON (pronounced like "fawn") is the Full-Time Faculty Obligation Number while the SCFF (pronounced like "skiff") is the Student Centered Funding Formula. The video explains the complex calculations used to determine the FON, and why meeting the FON is important for managing our budget process.
