Chancellor Finalist Forum Details and FAQ - October 25, 2023

Here is information regarding the Chancellor Finalist Forums that will be taking place today, Wednesday, October 25, 2023.  

 

The forums begin at 12:30pm in the District Boardroom and will also be available via Zoom and the Peralta TV YouTube channel.  The most recent announcement from Board of Trustees President Dyana Delfín Polk is posted at https://www.peralta.edu/chancellor/chancellor-search

Q: What is the order of the Finalists?

Q: What will happen during the Forums? 

A: Dr. David M. Johnson, Merritt College President and chair of the Chancellor Search Screening Committee, will be moderating the forums. Each Finalist will have a chance to make an opening statement on their vision for the Peralta Community College District and why we should choose them to be our next chancellor. President Johnson will then ask questions that were submitted by the District Academic Senate, the Peralta Classified Senate, and individuals like you who submitted your questions via the online submission form shared last week.  

 

Q: How can I watch on YouTube? 

A: Each Finalist's forum will be live-streamed on Peralta TV's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/peraltatv/featured. The YouTube recordings will be available in the "Live" section of Peralta's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@peraltatv/streams and will also be embedded within each Finalist's information page when they are available (links to candidate information pages are posted above). The videos will be available through Noon on Saturday.  

 

Q: How can I provide my feedback on the Finalists? 

A: We are collecting feedback via an online form which will make it faster and easier to compile community feedback for review by the Board of Trustees as they make their final decision.  The link to the feedback form will be posted on each of the Candidate Information pages listed above, and are also listed here for your convenience:  

Q: When should I submit my feedback form for the Board of Trustees to review? 

A: Feedback forms must be submitted by Noon on Saturday, October 28th. The original deadline was midnight Thursday, October 26th, but in the interest of giving the community more time for feedback, Board President Dyana Delfín Polk announced at the October 24th Board meeting that the deadline would be extended to Noon on Saturday, October 28, 2023. The Board will be deliberating in closed session on Monday, October 30th to make their decision so we absolutely need your feedback by Saturday in order for the Board to have a chance to review.  

 

Q: When will a decision be made? 

A: The Board of Trustees will announce our new Chancellor by November 15. The anticipated start date for the new Chancellor is January 1, 2024.
