Prepare For Your Future

May 7, 2026 3:20:38 PM / by Kasey Hernandez

Each spring semester, students across the Peralta Community College District begin preparing for what comes next. For many, this includes applying for financial aid for the upcoming academic year, awaiting transfer decisions, and preparing for graduation, all while managing final exams. It’s a busy and often demanding time, requiring focus, patience, and careful planning. To those preparing to graduate, transfer, or both, congratulations on reaching this milestone.

At the same time, not every student is on a transfer path – and that’s just as important. Whether you are continuing toward an associate degree or certificate, exploring a new major, or expanding your knowledge and expertise, this is a key time to plan ahead for summer and fall. Understanding which classes to take next can make a significant difference in staying on track.

With that in mind, connecting with a counselor early can help provide clarity and direction. Through programs such as EOPS, CalWORKs, CARE, SALAAM, NextUp, and traditional counseling services, students have access to guidance in developing or updating a Student Education Plan (SEP). These conversations can help map out remaining requirements, align academic goals, and ensure a smoother registration process.

Don’t forget! Enrollment is now open, and classes are filling quickly. Scheduling an appointment with an academic counselor as soon as possible can help you make informed decisions and secure the classes you need. For more information, contact the Counseling Office at one of the Peralta Colleges. Loving your future starts today!
