Laney Women's Basketball Team Earns Bay Valley Conference Co-Championship

At this weekend's Bay Valley Conference coach's meetings, Laney Women's Basketball was acknowledged as the Conference Co-Champions. This was the 3rd straight year that the women's basketball team has won the BVC Championship. Their overall Bay Valley Conference record in 3 years is an impressive 43-1!

Individual players were awarded as well. Sophomore Alayah Flucus was named to the All BVC team, along with freshmen Tali Fa'i and Laniyah Fulsome. Freshman Jada Hunter was named the Bay Valley Conference Most Valuable Player. This marks the 3rd year in a row that a Laney Women's Basketball player has received the MVP award. (Kya Pearson 2021-22, Amira Brown 2022-23).

Ramaundo Vaugn, Head Coach of the Laney Women's Basketball team, was also awarded as the BVC Coach of the Year for the 3rd straight year. (Shared the award in 22-23)

To round out an even more exciting weekend, Jada Hunter not only was named to the 3C2A All-State 1st Team, but she made history as the very first Laney College women's basketball player to be named the 3C2A California Player of the Year for Northern California. This is an amazing honor for both Jada, the athletics program, and Laney College!

They are the #6 seed in the playoffs and will face the winner of the Chabot College/Taft College game. The playoff game will be on Saturday, May 2nd at a time to be determined.
