Mar 24, 2025 2:27:46 PM / by Johnathan Freeman

Campus safety isn't just a policy; it's a promise. The Annual Security Report is your guide to understanding crime statistics, safety policies, and resources that ensure a secure learning environment. Let's explore why this matters to you.

Below is a written transcript of the above video:

Understanding the Clery Act

The Clery Act mandates transparency in campus safety, empowering you to make informed decisions. This report is more than compliance; it's a tool for your security. Discover how knowledge can enhance your safety on campus.

How to Report Suspicious Activity

See something, say something. Reporting suspicious activities is crucial. Use the PeraltaSafety app to report things that might look out of place. A person hiding behind shrubs; someone attempting to force entry into buildings, rooms, or vehicles. Dial 9-1-1 if it is an emergency, such as a person experiencing a heart attack, severe bleeding, or a life-threatening medical condition, or there is a robbery, assault, break-in, or other crime in progress. If you use the Call 9-1-1 Now feature in the PeraltaSafety app, the Department of Community Safety will receive your location in real time and can respond as you communicate with emergency services. Quick actions can prevent incidents and keep our campuses safe.

Know Your Emergency Contacts

Familiarize yourself with emergency contacts and procedures. Knowing who to call and what to do can make all the difference in a crisis. Stay prepared and informed to respond effectively.

24/7 Security Patrols

Our campuses are under 24/7 security patrols, with video surveillance and emergency notifications. Request a physical safety escort by dialing (510) 466-7236. You can also ask for a virtual safety escort by using the Virtual Safety Escort feature in the PeraltaSafety App. Escorts are available 365 days a year. These measures ensure your safety around the clock.

Commitment to Safety

We do not tolerate sexual misconduct. Title IX Coordinators offer support and resources. They provide a confidential and safe space for students to report concerns, accept complaints regarding sexual misconduct, gender discrimination, or retaliation, and explain the rights and options available to students, including informal and formal complaint processes. Please contact your college’s Vice President of Student Services for more information—they serve as your school’s Title IX Coordinators. Confidential counseling and legal safeguards are available to maintain a safe and respectful environment.

Crime Statistics

Review crime statistics from recent years to stay informed. Awareness is key to prevention. Use this knowledge to take proactive steps as you travel on and around our campuses.
