A beautiful ceremony to celebrate the success of students took place on December 1st, 2021, at the College of Alameda Automotive Technology Facility.  Students, faculty, administrators, and staff gathered to celebrate the awarding of five scholarships. Steve Gilbert was there to award the scholarships he created in memory of his son Daniel Gilbert who was an ATECH student at College of Alameda.

Professor and Chair Rick Greenspan, Professor Rufino Ramos, Professor Peter Ha, and the Facility Supervisor Mr. Candido Mejia were extremely proud of all the students and their commitment to learning and student success.

The awardees from Auto Technology are Robert Reyes, Richard Nguyen, Aaron Kindig and Sohail Ali. Natalia Bun was the awardee for Body and Paint Program.

Steve Gilbert congratulated all students while sharing with them the scholarships, and emphasized the importance of pursuing an education that will provide a livable wage and improve their lives and the well-being of the community. Dean Eva Jennings congratulated the awardees on the behalf of the Division of Career Education and thanked all professors and staff for a job well done.

Acting VPI Diana Bajrami thanked students on behalf of the President and the entire College and focused on the importance of giving and assisting each other and the future generations to reach their dreams.

Professor and Chair Rick Greenspan followed that message by introducing to the attendees one of the 1989 program graduates Mr. Duc Nguyen who was participating in the event with his daughter to celebrate the achievement of his son Richard Nguyen who is one of the awardees in the same program that his father graduated from.

The ceremony took place in the auto shop respecting all Peralta Safety guidelines and it was followed by a great barbeque meal donated by Everett and Jones that took place outside. We congratulate these students on their achievement, and the department for continually showing the value of Career Education providing pathways to life-long success.
