Merritt College honored its recent graduates with a return to fully in-person celebration. The event took place on May 24 at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland and included speeches from Merritt College President Dr. David M. Johnson, Student Trustee and ASMC President Leesa Hogan, and Valedictorians Michael Vasquez and Chelsea Morales. In a tearful and heartfelt speech, Vasquez reminded his fellow graduates:
"Take pride in knowing that you can achieve anything that you put your mind to as long as you're willing to put the work in. Thank those individuals that helped you along the road to get you to this moment, whether it's a family member, a friend, a teacher, or a classmate, because we all couldn't do it on our own."
